Rug Long Wool
I have a wool carpet with an old hair dye stain. Any suggestions of how to clean it?
My lodger just moved out, and the antique area rug in her room is RUINED!!! There are hair dye, nail polish and other stains that need attention and these could be up to 3 months old (yes, it took me that long to get wise/get rid! Any suggestions on how to deal with the stains are appreciated as the area rug has some personal value in addition to its real value (which is substantial).

Normally I would tell people to flush the spot with water and try a carpet spotter. But being an antique area rug. I would recommend that you call a Carpet Cleaner in your area. They do have products to remove dyes from carpet. If you try to clean the carpet yourself be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is good) do not uses carpet spotter, as they can be too harsh on the rug. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet
